Resulting from the integration of Hospital Clinic and hospital Sant Joan de Déu, it is one of the most important university centers of maternofetal and neonatal medicine in Europe and a world-wide reference in this field. BCnatal is specialized in fetal surgeries, concentrating 85% of the interventions performed in Spain, many of them to save the fetus’ life. It also receives patients from the south of Europe or Latin America. The most common surgery is the one performed in twins sharing placenta.
The Biomedical Research Institute August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS) is one of the main health research centers in Europe, with an increasing scientific production of more than a thousand articles in international journals. With more than 450 first-level researchers, it is a privileged environment for innovation and clinical transfer. BCNatal is part of it.
CLINIC FOUNDATION AND SANT JOAN DE DÉU FOUNDATION
The Clinic Foundation for Biomedical Research (FCRB) and Sant Joan de Déu Foundation offer administrative service and support to Fetali+D researchers and to all scientific activities developed. FCRB also provides administrative management to IDIBAPS.
The University of Barcelona (UB) is the main public university in Catalonia, with the greatest number of students and delivering the broadest and most comprehensive offering in higher educational courses. UB coordinates the international doctorate programme in fetal medicine, Erasmus FetalMed-PhD, thanks to the links of fetali+D researchers and UB.
